Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a Space Invader! Right here, on this otherwise unassuming wall, you’ll find Space Invader PA 1442. This mosaic is part of a much larger “invasion” orchestrated by a mysterious artist known only as Invader. He began his urban conquest right here in Paris back in 1998. Imagine, almost 25 years ago, the first pixelated invaders began popping up, baffling Parisians and adding a touch of playful rebellion to the city’s elegant streets. Invader, a graduate of the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts, chose to express his art through durable ceramic tiles. He meticulously documents each piece, assigning it a unique catalog number like our Space Invader PA 1442. This meticulous record-keeping adds another layer to the intrigue. It allows “flashers”, fans armed with the official Flash Invaders app, to track down and log their finds, turning the city into a giant, interactive art hunt.
