Son Rullan was once Colonia Militar Son Rullan a residential area for soldiers. Imagine soldiers and their families living here. About 116 of these single-story houses remain. They were built between 1949 and 1950. A school and an institute for military children also stood here. Part of the Air Force’s Son Rullan 241 barracks was nearby. It was close to Son Bonet airfield.

In 1999 the barracks were demolished. The area was transformed into the Son Rullan you see today. New homes rose. A primary care center opened its doors. A park provides a welcome green space for residents. The transformation shows a change from military life to a vibrant civilian neighborhood.

The railway line cuts through Son Rullan. Nearby are the Mallorca Rail Services workshops. A nearby metro stop is Virgen de Lluch. Buses 3 and 34 offer transportation. The area has numerous public and private schools. Son Rullan also has a high school. The area has grown from a military base to a thriving residential neighborhood.
