On this very spot, stood a different kind of spirit. Not the divine kind, but the kind found in a local YMCA. It was here, in 1980, that Solid Rock Pentecostal Church, then known as New Life UPC, held its very first services. Imagine those early members, their voices echoing in the cavernous space, fueled by faith and a vision for their future. Three years later, this dream started to solidify. The congregation purchased the land where Solid Rock Pentecostal Church stands today. A small building initially graced the property, a testament to their commitment. But their aspirations were much grander. In 1987, not only did they rename themselves Solid Rock UPC, but they constructed the church you see now, a beacon of faith in the community. This period marked a time of change and growth for Solid Rock. In 1994, Rod Carpenter took the helm as Pastor, guiding the congregation for over two decades. Then, in 2023, leadership shifted again when Richard A. Ortegon, who had served alongside Carpenter as Associate Pastor, was elected as the new leader. This seamless transition speaks volumes about the church’s commitment to continuity and their unwavering spirit. Solid Rock Pentecostal Church is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a testament to the enduring power of faith and community.
