“Can you imagine living in a glass house?” a young boy asked his mother, pointing at a peculiar building in the distance. We are now at Skovgårdsparken, a residential area in Gellerup, Aarhus. Skovgårdsparken might seem like an ordinary neighborhood at first glance, but it holds a unique story. Built between 1960 and 1991, Skovgårdsparken was Brabrand Boligforening’s third building project in the area. It stands as a testament to the architectural ambitions of the time, much like its predecessors, Hans Broges Parken and Søvangen. Despite facing similar challenges as its neighboring areas, Skovgårdsparken has charted its own course. Since 2011, it has undergone significant renovations, becoming a beacon of sustainability. These renovations, focused on energy efficiency, earned Skovgårdsparken the prestigious “Renoveringsprisen” in 2013.
