Founded in 1938 by Russian monks, the Skit du Saint-Esprit offers a serene escape. Father André Serguienko built this hermitage in the purest Byzantine tradition. The Skit du Saint-Esprit is located in the Bois du Fay in Le Mesnil-Saint-Denis.
It features several buildings. A kiosk opens with arcades. It is topped by a dome ending in a gilded bulb spire. There is also a Latin cross church. This church has a monumental porch and three aligned blue bulbs. The Skit du Saint-Esprit received the label “Religious Heritage of the 20th Century”.
The Skit du Saint-Esprit was intended for Russian Orthodox monks. They could live withdrawn from the world here. Father Grégoire Krug lived here for 20 years. He was a monk and iconographer.
