Did their need for speed skip a generation? We are standing before the Sir Malcolm Campbell and Donald Campbell Blue plaque. It commemorates the incredible lives of a father and son united by their pursuit of speed. This plaque marks their former home at Canbury School in Kingston upon Thames. This is the only place where both Sir Malcolm and his son Donald can be celebrated together. Sir Malcolm Campbell started his racing career in 1910. He became a legend breaking land speed records in the 1920s and 30s. His son Donald inherited his need for speed. Donald broke both land and water speed records. He tragically died in 1967 while trying to break the water speed record once again. This plaque serves as a reminder of their daring achievements and the legacy they left on British motorsports.
