On a bustling corner in Kelapa Gading, where Jalan Pegangsaan Dua meets Jalan Hibrida Raya, stands the Singapore International School Kelapa Gading. It’s a vibrant hub of learning. SIS Kelapa Gading isn’t just a school. It’s a bridge between cultures, a launchpad for dreams. The school began humbly in 2002, nestled in a foster house as a preschool. Its growth was rapid. By 2005, SIS Kelapa Gading had moved to its current, much larger location on Jalan Pegangsaan Dua. The school became a Cambridge International Centre. It was authorized to offer the Cambridge International Primary Program. A four-story building soon arose to accommodate the expanding student body. In 2013, a new swimming pool, which even hosted a local swimming competition, and a futsal court were added. The transformation continued. In April 2014, Singapore International School Kelapa Gading officially became an IB World School. By July of the same year, it was offering the IB Diploma Programme for its Junior College students. A new Junior College Library and Media Centre was built. This provided a dedicated space and extensive resources for this growing program. A name change followed in September 2014. Singapore School Kelapa Gading became SIS Kelapa Gading. The campus boasts a range of facilities. The front building houses administration, meeting areas, a canteen, a library, and a multi-purpose hall. The four-story building contains classrooms, science and IT labs, music and art rooms, and more meeting areas, all monitored by CCTV. The preschool has its own dedicated playroom, playground, and a small pool. The Junior College Library and Media Centre, a central hub for the IB Diploma Programme, is located on the fourth floor. The football field is not only used by students. It also serves as a venue for the Jakarta Schools Football League. It sits adjacent to the swimming pool and the futsal court. SIS Kelapa Gading boasts an impressive record in the SIS Olympics. This annual competition brings together all eight SIS branches across Indonesia. As of the 2017/18 academic year, SIS Kelapa Gading had claimed the overall champion title for nine consecutive years. The competition includes a variety of sports. Students compete in track and field, swimming, tennis, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, and futsal. The futsal competition, known as the Governors Cup, involves teams from all age groups. SIS Kelapa Gading had won this cup for six years running. The school also actively participates in the Jakarta Schools Football League. It fields both boys’ and girls’ teams in the Greenfield’s Cup. Many SIS Kelapa Gading students also play for the SIS United team, which comprises players from the four SIS schools in Jakarta. The school’s girls’ volleyball and football teams have achieved considerable success. SIS Kelapa Gading stands as a testament to the power of vision and dedication. It has grown from a small preschool to a renowned international school, nurturing students and fostering a love of learning.
