These included Istanbul MP Halis Dalkılıç, Arı Mayor Savcı Sayan, and Istanbul Provincial Mufti Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş. The mosque and its accompanying Taziye Evi (mourning house) were completed in just one year. This rapid construction speaks to the dedication and efficiency of everyone involved. The Şinasi Ünsal Camii can accommodate 1,200 worshippers. It offers a spacious prayer hall and a 700 square meter Taziye Evi for community gatherings during times of grief. The opening ceremony began with a Quran recitation. This was followed by speeches from officials, including Başakşehir Mayor Yasin Kartoğlu. Mayor Kartoğlu emphasized the importance of mosques as spiritual centers. He described them as “the soul of our cities and the heart and safe haven of our nation from a spiritual perspective.” Şinasi Ünsal himself spoke at the ceremony. He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the project. He also voiced his hope that the community would come together to worship in this beautiful space.
