Twenty-five million Turkish Lira. That’s how much Simenoğlu Köşkü sold for. A hefty price for a mansion steeped in history and secrets. This is Simenoğlu Köşkü. It stands before you a testament to Istanbul’s rich past.

Simenoğlu Köşkü is more than just a beautiful building. It’s a silent observer of centuries. It witnessed the bustling life of Yeşilköy. It’s a place where stories unfolded. Its wood and stone have absorbed the laughter and whispers of generations.

Originally known as the Arnavut Hayreddin Bey Köşkü it was a gift from Sultan Abdülhamid II. Hayreddin Bey a prominent intellectual and even Istanbul’s mayor for a short time lived here. Later his daughter Nimet Hanım inherited the mansion. In the 1970s she began renting it out to filmmakers. This is when Simenoğlu Köşkü became a star in its own right.

The mansion became the set for numerous Yeşilçam films. Think Kemal Sunal Şener Şen Adile Naşit. Legends of Turkish cinema walked these very halls. Their performances echoed within these walls. The mansion was the perfect backdrop for their stories. It still holds the faint scent of those bygone days.

The Simenoğlu family later purchased the mansion. They meticulously restored it. During this restoration valuable documents and artifacts belonging to Hayreddin Bey were discovered. This is not the end of the mansion’s name changes. It was later called Darcan Köşkü.

There is an intriguing debate surrounding Simenoğlu Köşkü. Some sources claim the Treaty of Ayastefanos was signed here in 1878. However others argue it was signed at the Neriman Şah Yalısı. This yalısı was destroyed in an 1894 earthquake. The mystery remains unsolved. The truth continues to hide within the walls of Simenoğlu Köşkü.

Today Simenoğlu Köşkü stands as a reminder of Istanbul’s vibrant history. It is a cherished landmark in Bakırköy. It is a link between the past and present. It’s a place where history continues to unfold. The stories of Simenoğlu Köşkü have only just begun. This mansion will continue to enthrall visitors for generations to come.
