Ever wondered where China’s automotive story unfolds? It’s right here at the Shanghai Auto Museum. This impressive museum, located in Anting, Jiading District, opened its doors in January 2007. The Shanghai Auto Museum is a testament to China’s growing automotive industry. It’s the first specialized museum of its kind in the country. The museum building itself is a modern marvel, designed by the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Tongji University and IFB from Germany. The Shanghai Auto Museum boasts a vast 28,000 square meters. Inside, you’ll find a fascinating collection of over 100 classic cars. These vehicles represent nearly 50 different brands from China and around the globe. The collection spans over a century of automotive history, showcasing key milestones in design and technology. The museum is divided into four main sections. You can explore the history of automobiles, admire the extensive collection, delve into automotive exploration, and enjoy rotating temporary exhibits. The History Pavilion houses 27 cars that represent significant advancements in the automotive world. In the Antique Car Pavilion, you’ll find 40 cars from 20 different manufacturers, dating from 1900 to 1970. Here you can see iconic models like Fords, the Fiat 500, the Austin 7, the Rover P5, the Jaguar E-Type, and even a GM EV1. The Shanghai Auto Museum isn’t just a display of cars.
