Why is Seyitnizam Mahallesi named as it is? The answer lies within its history. Seyitnizam is a neighborhood within the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul. It carries the name of Seyyid Nizam. A tomb and mosque bearing his name stand in the area.

In 1982 Zeytinburnu’s number of neighborhoods rose to 13. This happened with the formation of Seyitnizam Mahallesi.

Seyitnizam has a tram station. It shares a border with six other neighborhoods. It is one of the neighborhoods with the most neighboring districts in Zeytinburnu. Like Kazlıçeşme it has borders with six neighborhoods. Its southwest is adjacent to Osmaniye neighborhood of Bakırköy.

In 2000, 8.7% of the district’s population lived in Seyitnizam. According to the 2000 General Population Census, 6.2% of the total population in the district were born in foreign countries. In Seyitnizam this rate was 3.8%. This was relatively lower.

According to data from 2000 8.5% of the neighborhood population was illiterate. This rate is better than Turkey in general at 12.7%. However it is weaker than Istanbul in general at 6.6%.

The Seyitnizam-Akşemsettin Tram Station serves the area. It is on the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar line. The station began operating on March 10 1994. The station is located between Seyitnizam Mahallesi Beştelsiz Mahallesi and Telsiz Mahallesi.

The Seyitnizam-Akşemsettin tram stop provides easy access. The T1 line runs frequently. During peak hours trams arrive every two minutes. The line operates between 6 AM and midnight. Nearby, you’ll find Öğretmenler Parkı. Akevler Konutları residences are also close.

Seyitnizam offers a glimpse into Istanbul’s local life. It blends residential areas with accessible transportation. The area reflects a mix of history and modern convenience. As you explore, consider the layers of community that define Seyitnizam.
