Sheikh Devati Mustafa Efendi Mosque stands as a testament to Ottoman artistry. It also reflects devotion. The mosque served as a Jelveti lodge. Its square plan features a single balcony and minaret. The cone is covered with lead. Light streams in through pointed arched windows.
Inside, hand-drawn decorations adorn the walls. The ceiling showcases intricate woodwork. The mihrab and minbar are new. They add to the mosque’s serene ambiance.
The mosque’s story has layers. Bahri Pasha repaired it during Sultan Abdul Hamid II’s reign in 1886. Poet Ferik Kazım İbrahim Pasha added an inscription above the main gate. The inscription has seven lines. In 2018, the mosque underwent extensive restoration. This ensured its survival for future generations.
Step into the courtyard of Sheikh Devati Mustafa Efendi Mosque. Ottoman tombstone art dots the landscape. A two-sided graveyard rests peacefully. A two-story sheikh’s house stands. It features a fountain in the middle.

Sheikh Mustafa Devati earned the name “Divitçi”. He manufactured old pens. These pens used ink inside the juggler. He was diligent and completed his Sufi education. He became a sheikh. He worked alongside Fidancı Mehmed Efendi. Sheikh Devati also authored “Tuhfetü’s-sufiyyin”. It includes sections of his life.
The repair inscription speaks volumes. It praises the temple’s builder. It says the builder made a register of names among the masters. The inscription mentions calling to prayers is impossible. It also talks about telling the Quran to the Muslim imam. It mentions completing construction by ordering the decree.
The inscription describes the crown of the world. It is the chief-guard. The cross of the throne is for the sake of the sky’s strength. Every creature is pleased with the embers of the earth.
