“North Serpong” Does the name ring a bell? North Serpong is an administrative district in South Tangerang. It sits within Banten Province on Java in Indonesia. This district spans 22.36 square kilometers. North Serpong is home to an estimated 138,209 people. That was the count in mid-2023.
Let’s jump back a bit. Before 2007, North Serpong was part of Serpong district. Then, it was split. The northern part became its own district.
North Serpong is further divided. It has seven urban communities. These are called kelurahan. Pakulonan is one. Its area is 2.79 km2. The population was about 13,128 in mid-2022. Pakualam is another. It covers 2.81 km2. Its population was around 15,600. Pakujaya is larger at 4.54 km2. It had about 27,196 residents. Pondok Jagung is smaller. It measures 2.09 km2. Around 20,241 people lived there. Pondok Jagung Timur is close by. It has 2.25 km2. Its population was near 18,964. Jelupang is quite compact at 1.26 km2. Yet, it housed approximately 32,803 people. Lengkong Karya is the last one. It has 2.10 km2. Its population was about 7,992.
Interestingly, North Serpong has more females than males. The mid-2022 estimate showed 67,875 males. Females numbered 68,049.
North Serpong is known for its residential areas. These are planned and strategically located. They have modern facilities. The layouts are well-organized. These areas balance urban living with green spaces.
Alam Sutera is a key development. It started in 1994. This area mixes residential, commercial, and recreational zones. Sustainability is a focus. Alam Sutera has parks and international schools. Melati Mas Regency is well-established. It features wide roads and green landscapes. Schools and shopping complexes are nearby. Transportation access is easy. These developments make North Serpong desirable. They offer comfort and convenience. They also foster community growth.
Public transportation is varied. It serves the growing population. Transjakarta S11 connects Terminal BSD to Jelambar. This provides affordable transport. The Jakarta MRT Phase 3 is planned. It will include stations near North Serpong. Kebon Nanas and Panunggangan are examples. The Depok Baru-Tangerang LRT line is also planned. It will connect Depok Baru Station to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It will pass through BSD City and Alam Sutera.
The Glad Bus serves Klub Keluarga Graha Raya residents. It goes to Fatmawati MRT Station. The Bintaro Jaya Shuttle Bus also serves this area. It connects to Bintaro Jaya Xchange.
With these transport options, North Serpong is becoming more accessible. The MRT and LRT systems will help reduce traffic. This will improve the quality of life.
