“Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris. Three capitals linked by one path”. Does this ring a bell? Right here in Paris begins a small section of a long journey. This is the Sentier de la Belgique. It is a part of the GR 12. This Grand Randonnée trail spans about 1000 km. About 340 km of it are in Belgium. It connects Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris.

The GR 12 enters Belgium near Kalmthout. It skirts Antwerp. It passes through Lier and Mechelen. Then it reaches Grimbergen. A variant of about 60 km goes between Antwerp and Mechelen. It lets you discover the rich heritage of these two cities.

From the Atomium to the Hal Gate, the trail connects main tourist sites. These are in the capital. It takes you to the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula. It guides you to the Grand Place. It leads you through the Sablon and the Marolles. Leaving Brussels, it heads to Beersel and Braine-le-Château.

From Ronquières to Seneffe, the GR 12 runs along the old canal. After crossing the Sambre, at Aulne Abbey, the white and red path goes through Walcourt and Philippeville. It continues its journey towards France.

Imagine walking this path. You start in Amsterdam. You wander through Belgium. Finally, you arrive here in Paris. The Sentier de la Belgique marks the end or the beginning. It all depends on your direction. It is a physical connection between countries. It is a symbol of unity in Europe. It represents a shared history and a future together.

Think about the countless feet that have trod this path. They are hikers and travelers. They are dreamers and adventurers. Each step tells a story. Every kilometer builds a connection. The Sentier de la Belgique is more than just a trail. It is an experience. It is a link. It’s a journey through the heart of Europe. So take a moment. Remember the path. Imagine the journey. The Sentier de la Belgique awaits.
