Murat Pasha’s trusted chamberlain, Ahmet Kethüda, envisioned a place of worship. He wanted it to stand as a testament to his devotion. This vision took form in the 16th century. It became the Şemi Molla Camii. Initially, it bore the name Ahmet Kethüda Camii. This mosque stands before you, a tangible echo of his piety. Şemi Molla Camii isn’t just a mosque. It’s a story woven through time. A story of construction, decay, and renewal. It was initially constructed in 1533 by Ahmet Kethüda. The mosque served the community for centuries. Over time, it fell into disrepair. The ravages of time took their toll on the structure. Then, in 1827, a woman named Ayşe Revnak Hanım stepped forward. She was the wife of Şemi Molla Efendi. She restored the mosque. She added a fountain to its courtyard. This act of restoration breathed new life into the Şemi Molla Camii. The mosque underwent further renovations during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II. Şemi Molla Camii is a testament to the enduring spirit of faith and restoration. A place where the whispers of centuries mingle with the prayers of today. The mosque is built from stone. Its rectangular shape houses a unique feature. A three-sided structure within the courtyard serves as both a şadırvan and a gateway to the cemetery. Here lies Ahmet Kethüda, the mosque’s original founder. His presence is a reminder of the mosque’s humble beginnings.
