\u015eehremini Anadolu Lisesi began its journey in 1950. It started as an application secondary school in Istanbul’s Fatih district. Imagine this area back then. It would have been a place of transition and growth.
Kemal Kaya took the initiative. He helped construct the school on the grounds of Dervi\u015f Pa\u015fa Mansion. In 1955, \u015eehremini Secondary School opened its doors. Tahir Tezcan became the school’s first principal.
The school transformed in 1970. It became a high school thanks to Vefa Poyraz. Poyraz was the governor at the time. After Tezcan, Tevfik Ak and \u015e\u00fckr\u00fc Kaya Ya\u015far managed the school. Mehmet Ata \u00d6zer became principal in August 1992. Under his leadership, the school’s basketball team became world champions. The school gained international recognition.
In 1993, \u015eehremini S\u00fcper Lisesi opened. It emphasized English education. In 2006, Mehmet Ata \u00d6zer became the Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education. \u0130smail Can then took over as school principal. Y\u00fcksel K\u00f6\u015fker became principal in 2015.
\u015eehremini Lisesi was unique. It was the only public school accepting students with a perfect grade point average. In 2005, it officially became \u015eehremini Anadolu Lisesi.
Since 2021, the school offers a preparatory class in English. In 2022, \u015eehremini Anadolu Lisesi partnered with the AP Schools Association. This partnership is called the International Academic Cooperation. Starting in 2023, students can participate in the Advanced Placement program.
