Picture this a bustling Sunday morning in Seattle. The air hums with the energy of a city waking. Yet here before us stands a beacon of faith a haven of community. This is the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church a place where history and devotion intertwine.

The story of the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church began not within these walls but in the intimate setting of a Beacon Hill home. In 1966 a small Bible study group formed. This group centered around Jimmie and Barbara Toy. Their faith ignited a spark that would illuminate the lives of many.

Under Reverend Duncan Dang’s guidance the group blossomed. It grew into the “Chinese Christian Fellowship”. In 1968 they held their first official worship service at Columbia Congregational Church in Rainier Valley. A significant milestone it marked a transition from a small gathering to a formal church.

Pastor Dang’s vision extended beyond just gathering. He encouraged the church to join the Christian & Missionary Alliance. This was a pivotal moment strengthening its evangelical teaching foundation. The church’s growth was nothing short of remarkable.

After several moves the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church finally purchased its current location in 1988. The building became more than just bricks and mortar. It became a symbol of perseverance and growth. The church continued its expansion. In 2003-2004 they planted a sister church and expanded their own building.

Missions have always been central to the church’s identity. Annually the church hosts a Missions Conference. Missionaries share their experiences emphasizing the global importance of their work. Many church members have participated in missions around the world. Their work spreads the Gospel building relationships.

The Seattle Chinese Alliance Church boasts a rich legacy of leadership. Numerous pastors have guided the congregation including Reverend Duncan Dang Reverend Brainerd Shiu and many others. Each pastor contributed to its growth and spiritual development.

Today the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church serves a multicultural and multilingual congregation. Services are held in Cantonese English and Mandarin reflecting the diverse community it serves. It remains the largest Cantonese-speaking church in the Greater Seattle area.

More than just a place of worship the Seattle Chinese Alliance Church is a testament to faith community and cultural preservation. Its history is a powerful narrative of growth adaptation and dedication. It stands as a vibrant symbol of faith in the heart of Seattle.
