Imagine a place where young minds blossom. It’s Schule Stahmeln a Grundschule der Stadt Leipzig. This isn’t just any school. It is a place with a unique story and two locations.
Schule Stahmeln offers a familiar learning environment. It supports about 180 students from Wahren Stahmeln and Lützschena. Twelve teachers dedicate themselves to the students.
The school once operated from two sites. The main building was on Stahmelner Höhe. The branch was on Windmühlenweg. These locations were three kilometers apart. A tram connected them every 20 minutes. Grades one and two along with the DaZ class studied at Stahmelner Höhe. Grades three and four were at Windmühlenweg.
From 2020 to 2022 Stahmelner Höhe underwent renovations for fire safety. All classes moved to Windmühlenweg. An extension was built.
Since 2022/23 the school has been using both sites again. First graders are at Stahmelner Höhe 1. Grades two through four are at Windmühlenweg 4. The Windmühlenweg building has specialist classrooms. There is also a dining room a computer lab and a reading room. The main office is also there.
Both locations have internet access. A new school garden has grown at Windmühlenweg. Sports halls are accessible by foot in 20 minutes.
Schule Stahmeln provides varied educational opportunities. Project days and weeks enrich learning. The school encourages independent work and group projects. Teachers plan interdisciplinary lessons together.
The school focuses on developing talents. It also addresses learning difficulties. Project weeks explore topics like time travel. Students participate in a school math olympiad. They compete in the Kangaroo competition.
