Schule Arbergen

Nestled in the heart of Arbergen village, Schule Arbergen has witnessed over a century of laughter, learning, and growth. Schule Arbergen sits near the church, marketplace, and windmill. The school grounds are spacious and shaded by mature trees. The main building, with its Art Nouveau facade, dates back to 1910. Schule Arbergen celebrated its centennial in May 2011. Recent renovations have given the school a fresh and welcoming atmosphere. Today, Schule Arbergen is a vibrant two and three-stream school. Around 215 children fill its nine classes. Each grade level works closely together, fostering a strong sense of community. A special preparatory class helps language learners of all ages integrate into the school. The school day at Schule Arbergen ends at 1 p.m. About half the students head home then. The others stay for the after-school program. This program requires a year-long commitment. It provides care and activities until 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. The ASB delivers fresh, hot lunches daily for the after-school students. The menu is posted online and outside the cafeteria. From 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., students can unwind after their morning lessons. They can eat lunch in the cafeteria. They can also choose from a range of activities. These include resting, reading, playing games, drawing, and running around. Educators and pedagogical staff supervise the lunchtime activities. After their break, students attend grade-specific learning sessions. They work on homework and other enriching activities. Teachers, educators, and staff work together to support the students during this time. Many of the after-school students go home at 3 p.m. A smaller group stays for an additional hour of supervised activities until 4 p.m. The dedicated team at Schule Arbergen goes beyond teachers. It includes educators, pedagogical staff, assistants, and volunteers. They provide valuable support and enrichment to the students’ learning experience. Two special education teachers offer additional support and guidance to students. A school social worker is also part of the team. Schule Arbergen also trains student teachers, university students, and interns. They bring fresh perspectives and new approaches to the school. A teacher from the Turkish Consulate provides native language instruction. Schule Arbergen continues to be a vital part of the Arbergen community. It offers a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
