“Blessed is he who is far from business” proclaims the inscription above the Schlosspavillon entrance. The Schlosspavillon is a charming baroque pavilion in Ismaning. It stands as a testament to a time when life moved at a slower pace.

The Schlosspavillon was built around 1730. It was commissioned by the Prince-Bishop of Freising, Johann Theodor, as a pleasure palace. Legend has it that the pavilion’s design might be the work of the renowned François de Cuvilliés. He was the architectural genius behind the iconic Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich.

In the 19th century, the pavilion underwent a transformation under the ownership of the Duke of Leuchtenberg. He embraced the neoclassical style and transformed the pavilion into a sophisticated billiard salon. Its history took another turn in the mid-20th century. Between 1950 and 1975, the pavilion found a new purpose as a place of worship for the local Protestant community. Following a period of renovation and expansion in the early 1980s, the Schlosspavillon was reborn as an art gallery.
