Among the Bremen’s industrial landscape lies a hidden gem. Schlosspark Sebaldsbrück a tranquil oasis. Its history whispers tales of transformation.

Originally a medieval Sattelhof this estate evolved. Around 1683 it became a noble manor. Dr Gerhard Meier acquired it around 1800. The Adami family owned it from 1843. Senator Johann Helfrich Adami built a magnificent manor house. It was in the neo-Gothic Tudor style. Soon people called it Schloss Sebaldsbrück. The surrounding grounds became known as Schlosspark Sebaldsbrück.

In 1903 the manor house transformed. A. Meyer converted it into a public park restaurant. Two large rectangular tree lines remain. A spacious lawn for events also survives from that era. These features hint at the park’s rich history.

The Hansa-Lloyd automobile works later owned the estate. In 1928 it passed to the city of Bremen. Under the direction of garden director Paul Freye the park underwent a redesign. The park officially opened in 1931 with a grand celebration. Many trees are now over 150 years old. They stand as silent witnesses to time’s passage.

Around 1999 Bremen’s gardening department added vibrant flowerbeds. They turn the park into a colorful fragrant paradise each year. A study on plant growth spurred further expansion. A unique insect hotel now stands in the park. It offers nesting materials for various insect species. It is a testament to environmental consciousness.

Adjacent to the park lies the Schlossparkbad. It is a public family swimming pool with indoor and outdoor facilities. It includes a 50-meter pool and park-like meadows. The Schlosspark Sebaldsbrück is more than just a park. It is a living tapestry woven with history nature and community spirit.
