Ingvild Goetz, a former gallery dealer, passionately curates and expands this remarkable collection. The museum doesn’t strive to be encyclopedic. It focuses on the evolution of specific artists, providing a deep dive into their creative journeys. The Sammlung Goetz isn’t just a static display of art. It’s a dynamic space where themed exhibitions breathe life into the collection. These exhibitions, held within a purpose-built museum, offer fresh perspectives on contemporary art. The building itself is a work of art, designed by the renowned Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron. Downstairs, the Sammlung Goetz extends its artistic exploration. In 2013, Ingvild Goetz made a remarkable gift to the Freistaat Bayern (Free State of Bavaria). She donated the museum building and the portion of the collection she solely owned. Works co-owned by family members remain on permanent loan. This ensures the collection’s integrity remains intact for public enjoyment.
