Saint Sahag Armenian Church

In 2007, Saint Sahag Armenian Church welcomed a very special guest. His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, made history as the first to visit Minnesota. His presence marked a significant moment for Saint Sahag, a church with a unique story. Established in 2001, Saint Sahag holds the distinction of being the only Armenian church between Milwaukee and Seattle. Located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the church building itself has a fascinating past. Originally built in 1912 as the Merriam Park Presbyterian Church, the structure underwent a transformation through the generosity of Massis Yeterian and Chaké Yeterian Scallen. The building’s redesign sensitively incorporated Armenian architectural elements, creating a sacred space for the community. Saint Sahag stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Armenian community in Minnesota. For decades, Armenian families in the area lacked a dedicated place to gather and celebrate their faith and heritage. Today, Saint Sahag serves as a vibrant hub, connecting parishioners with their Armenian roots and offering a spiritual home.
