Gazing upon Saint Mark’s Parish Church of South Teddington and Hampton Wick, one might sense a quiet strength. This isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to faith, resilience, and the unique story of South Teddington and Hampton Wick. Saint Mark’s began humbly in the 1870s, thanks to Reverend Robert Borland. He started services in a local school. As the congregation grew, a dedicated space became necessary, leading to the first church building on St Mark’s Road in 1915. The current Saint Mark’s Parish Church of South Teddington and Hampton Wick, the second on this site, arose in 1939. Designed by Cyril Farey, it stands as a potential landmark. It might have been one of the last churches consecrated in England before the Second World War began. In 2024, Saint Mark’s Parish Church of South Teddington and Hampton Wick embarked on a new chapter. It partnered with St John’s Hampton Wick, a church with which it shares a rich history and interconnected parish. This partnership signifies a shared vision for the future, expressed uniquely in each location. Reverend Jerry Field now leads both congregations. Reverend Tom Simpson serves as Minister-in-Charge at Saint Mark’s, while continuing to contribute to St John’s. Saint Mark’s, Teddington, and St. John the Baptist, Hampton Wick continue to serve their communities. They stand as symbols of faith and community.
