His only condition was that it be named Saint Margaret Mary, in honor of his mother. This generous gift marked the official birth of Saint Margaret Mary Parish. The first church building, dedicated in 1942, was humble. It lacked electricity, running water, and even indoor restrooms. Yet, the spirit of the community thrived. Through tamale sales, jamaicas, and bake sales, they raised funds to support their beloved church, even with collections often totaling less than a dollar.
