The doors of St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church stand open, a welcome beacon in the heart of Niles. The church, named after a French Jesuit missionary, stands proud on Golf Road and offers a place of peace and devotion to its community. St. Isaac Jogues Parish was established in July 1956. It was the culmination of a vision to create a church and school for the growing community of Niles. The first service was held at Notre Dame High School and soon after they purchased land to build a permanent church. The parish was formed from several families who previously attended Masses at nearby churches like St. John Brebeuf and St. Martha. After construction of the church and school, the parish continued to grow. Its school, St. Isaac Jogues School, became a central part of the community. This school was so popular that it quickly outgrew its first building and underwent a major expansion in 1963. The school would soon become a staple of the community. The school was eventually merged with several other Catholic schools in the area to form All Saints Parish. Today, St. Isaac Jogues continues to serve its community, welcoming all to celebrate mass and find solace within its hallowed halls. The church has been a witness to the ebb and flow of life in Niles, a symbol of faith and resilience. Through the years, it has seen generations come and go, and it continues to be a source of strength and hope for its parishioners.
