In 1957, a new chapter began in Bensenville. Saint Bede’s Episcopal Church officially opened its doors on May 1st. The journey to this dedication began a few years earlier. The fledgling congregation initially gathered at Fenton High School. They were led by Reverend William Deutsch. They worshipped together, building a community of faith. They looked forward to the day they would have a home of their own. Then, on December 24, 1965, their dream became reality. The new Saint Bede’s Episcopal Church was dedicated at 5N047 Route 83. Saint Bede’s isn’t just a building. It is a sacred space, a place where the divine and human meet. It is a welcoming community, reflecting the love of Christ. Saint Bede’s embraces people of all backgrounds. It welcomes everyone regardless of race, age, sexuality, culture, ethnicity, gender identity, education, economic circumstances, family configuration, or ability. At Saint Bede’s, the core belief is that Jesus Christ embodies God’s love. This love reconciles and offers hospitality to the entire world. The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Appointments can also be made for other times.
