Saint Anthony Catholic Church provides spiritual guidance and support to its members. It offers a place for worship, fellowship, and personal growth. The church’s history is deeply intertwined with the immigrant experience in America.
In the 1880s, many Italians sought a new life in America. Those who settled in Bryan and the Brazos Valley were mainly from Sicily. Sicily was a very poor region at the time. Over time, these immigrants became successful and acquired their own land. By the late 19th century, it is believed that between 2,400 and 3,000 Italians lived in the Brazos area.
The congregation grew. They built their first church. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed it in 1926. This prompted the construction of the present Saint Anthony Catholic Church in 1927.
Today, Saint Anthony Catholic Church continues to be a vital part of the community. The church offers Sunday Mass in English. The service starts at 10:45 AM. The church is a beacon of faith, serving the Dallas community. It welcomes people from all walks of life. Saint Anthony Parish is nurturing a diverse and welcoming community.
