Established in 2007 Saint Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Catholic Church initially served the Syro-Malabar community around Dallas. Services were held at Saint Anne’s Church Coppell. The Syro Malabar diocese of Chicago later approved the establishment of the Syro Malabar Catholic Mission DFW. In 2009 the community finally got its own church at 200 S Heartz Road Coppell. This special day October 12 2009 coincided with the canonization of Saint Alphonsa the church’s patron saint. Initially 150 families actively participated. Fr Saji Chakkittamuriyil blessed the church and started the services. March 2010 marked the mission’s elevation to parish status with Fr Varghese Naikkamparampil as the first vicar. The community grew rapidly both spiritually and in numbers. By 2014 an expansion was necessary to accommodate everyone. Fr Johnsty Thachara led this project. Today Saint Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Catholic Church boasts over 700 registered families a testament to its vibrant faith and strong community spirit. Saint Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is more than just a place of worship. It is a center of community life a vibrant hub for the Syro-Malabar faithful in the Dallas area.
