Celestine Saigling built this house in 1918. She was the widow of Charles Frederick “C.F.” Saigling. He passed away in 1906. C.F. Saigling was a prominent businessman. He founded several companies including Saigling Lumber Co. and C.F. Saigling Planing Mill. He also founded the Saigling Milling Co. He contributed to the Plano community. C.F. Saigling served on the Plano City Council from 1884 to 1885. He also served on the first Plano school board. The city honored him by naming Saigling Elementary School after him.
The Saigling House itself is historically significant. It was one of the first brick-faced houses in downtown Plano. The city began efforts to restore the house in 1984.
