S\u00e1enz Pe\u00f1a’s story begins long before it was called S\u00e1enz Pe\u00f1a. The first recorded owner of this land dates back to 1615. Ownership changed hands many times. For over 200 years it remained unused land. Then in 1850 Manuel Lynch acquired it.

After Lynch’s death the land was sold. It was divided into lots. This spurred the area’s urbanization. The early 20th century brought a significant change. A railway station was authorized. It was named after the late President Luis S\u00e1enz Pe\u00f1a. The station officially opened on November 1 1910.
