“Chez Regine,” a vibrant cultural hub, once stood in the heart of Aubervilliers, a bustling town. Stepping onto Rue Regine Gosset, we walk down the path where this iconic space used to be. Chez Regine was a melting pot of creativity, housed in the expansive former cardboard factory. Artists, activists, and creative minds converged in a shared space, transforming the industrial building into a dynamic art scene. Imagine a space where bold street art murals adorned the walls, and the air buzzed with energy from live music and performances. The creative transformation began in 2020 when two groups, L’Ecluse, an urban art project developer, and Kumquat, a collective focused on event organization, took over the building. They revitalized the space into a hub for creativity and collaboration, hosting everything from workshops and exhibitions to dance performances and filmmaking sessions. They embraced the vibrant spirit of street art, fostering its presence within the building’s walls. However, in 2022, Chez Regine’s walls came down, leaving a void where creativity thrived. Though the space itself is gone, its spirit lives on in the vibrant murals that remain, remnants of a time when art and community flourished in a former factory. The Rue Regine Gosset is a poignant reminder of the vibrant and ephemeral nature of artistic spaces.
