The name Pierre Dupont may not ring a bell for you, but his legacy lives on the cobblestones of this street. Rue Pierre Dupont, named after the famous French songwriter, is hidden away in the 10th arrondissement. In the 1830s, a wealthy landowner named Alexandre Delessert envisioned two grand streets on his property. He never finished the project and the roads were closed off, forgotten in time. The passageways were resurrected a century later, becoming the Rue Wissembourg and, in 1892, Rue Pierre Dupont. It’s easy to imagine the charming cobbled street lined with shops, cafes, and perhaps even a bustling market. It’s not exactly a street you’d find in a post-card, but it’s the Parisian streets like this one that tell the true stories of the city.
