A Fulbright Scholarship brought him to Johns Hopkins in 1950, to study under Lawson Wilkins, a pioneer in pediatric endocrinology. This marked the beginning of Migeon’s lifelong connection to Johns Hopkins, where he later became the director of pediatric endocrinology. His research, meticulous and groundbreaking, laid the foundation for much of what we know today about steroid secretion and metabolism in childhood. Migeon’s work extended to disorders of sexual development, particularly congenital adrenal hyperplasia and androgen insensitivity. His contributions resonated throughout the medical world. He became one of the world’s most cited scientists, a testament to his profound impact on the field. Migeon’s legacy, however, extended beyond the lab. He mentored countless research fellows, shaping the careers of future leaders in endocrinology. His generosity and dedication to teaching mirrored that of his own mentor, Lawson Wilkins.
