Doesn’t the name Avenue André-Rivoire sound distinguished? It’s a tribute to a poet and writer. André Rivoire lived from 1872 to 1930. This avenue in the 14th arrondissement bears his name.

Avenue André-Rivoire is in the Parc-de-Montsouris area. The city created this road around 1930. It was built on the site of bastions 81 and 82. These bastions were part of the Thiers wall fortifications.

Originally, it was named Avenue de la Porte-d’Arcueil. Later, it was renamed in honor of André Rivoire. In 1960, the avenue’s final section was restructured. This happened when they built the Boulevard Périphérique. Since then, it ends in a dead end. But don’t worry there is still a connection. A tunnel now links it to Avenue Lucien-Descaves. It passes under the Périphérique.

The Avenue André-Rivoire is about 220 meters long. It’s also 17 meters wide. If you’re taking public transport, the tram line 3a is close by. Get off at the Montsouris station.

One notable feature of Avenue André-Rivoire is its location. It runs alongside the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. This makes it a convenient spot for students and visitors. Avenue André-Rivoire is a slice of Parisian history. It links the past fortifications to the modern city. A poet’s legacy lives on in its name. The Avenue André-Rivoire blends history, culture, and urban development.
