Is it merely coincidence, or does the air hum with a faint melody here on Rue Albert Roussel? The Rue Albert Roussel we stand on today is more than just a street. It’s a tribute to a man who wove magic with music, Albert Roussel. He was a composer, deeply rooted in the soul of France, and for a good part of his life, the 17th arrondissement was his haven. He drew inspiration from its energy. He let its rhythm flow into his compositions. This very street, named in his honor in 2002, is a relatively new addition to Paris. It emerged as part of the Porte d’Asnières development project, breathing new life into the area where the old Batignolles railway depot once stood. But even though the street is new, the echoes of Roussel’s music seem to linger here. Can you almost hear it?
