It has been educating children who are blind or partially sighted since 1793. It began as a small school for just a few students but, over time, it grew into a large, modern facility with day and boarding options. Over the years, the school has played a crucial role in providing an inclusive education to students with visual impairments from across Scotland and even other parts of the UK. The Royal Blind School also has a special connection with the Paralympic Games. Libby Clegg, a Paralympic sprinter, and her two brothers, James and Stephen, both Paralympic swimmers, all attended the Royal Blind School.
