Originally known as Niddrie Technical School it opened its doors in 1959. It was then a single building all-boys school. The school evolved. It became co-educational in the early 1990s. It was renamed Niddrie Secondary College. In 2009, it adopted its current name Rosehill Secondary College. The name comes from its location on Rosehill Road.
Rosehill Secondary College has a rich history. It started small. It has grown into a thriving educational institution. Today, over 1140 students attend Rosehill Secondary College. Students travel from Niddrie and beyond. The school has a strong reputation.
Rosehill Secondary College sits on elevated ground. It overlooks Steele Creek and the Maribyrnong River Valley. The college provides modern facilities for its students. These include refurbished art rooms, visual communication and design, and a multimedia suite. Science rooms are fully equipped. There is a STEP learning centre. It supports gifted students. Literacy and Numeracy Enhancement studies are available. Year 10 students study English and Math. They also choose eight electives. These include KLAs and VCE subjects. An interdisciplinary unit covers health, drug education, driver education, and pathways into VCE and beyond. Years 11 and 12 students can select a VCE or VCAL pathway. The school offers career and further education pathways.
Rosehill Secondary College offers enrichment programs. The Selective Talent Enrichment Program STEP advances students in English, Science, and Mathematics. The Rosehill Accelerated Mathematics Program RAMP is available. The Rosehill English Accelerated Program REAP is also an option.
