Right here at 4103 Rainier Avenue South stands a testament to the power of faith and community. Rose of Sharon’s roots trace back to the fervent revivals that swept through southwest Tipton County in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The summer of 1971 saw a particularly powerful camp meeting at the Rose of Sharon Campground. People from all over the region gathered, drawn by the palpable presence of something greater. Founding Pastor Carlton Rose recognized a spiritual awakening. He saw the seeds of a church being sown in the fertile ground of shared faith.
In August 1972, Rose took a bold step. He moved the old Dalton-McMillan Store to 3065 Candy Lane. After some remodeling, this unlikely structure became the first home of the Rose of Sharon Campground Church. The official dedication took place in November 1972. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for the community. The Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church wasn’t just a building.
