In 2005, Robotron won a tender from the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. This was for a “museum database”. The first software version was released in 2006. Employees chose the name “Daphne”. In Greek mythology, Daphne transforms into a laurel bush. Robotron*Daphne represents transforming real artworks into digital data.
