“Hold on tight!” I yell over the roar. We’re about to plunge into Roaring Rapids at Shanghai Disneyland. Adventure Isle, home to Roaring Rapids, beckons with its mysterious, lost world vibe. Roaring Rapids isn’t just a ride. It’s a journey into the heart of Apu Taku, or Roaring Mountain, sacred to the Arbori tribe. Legend says Q’aráq, a giant crocodilian, guards the mountain’s waters. The League of Adventurers, ever curious, wants to know more about this beast. We board our rafts, ready for the expedition. We start upstream, headed for Field Camp Beta. Suddenly, a fallen tree blocks our path. The current changes, pulling us towards the mountain. The rafts are swept into Q’aráq’s lair. Inside, a massive, snapping Q’aráq lunges from the shadows. The roar is deafening. The experience is exhilarating. We escape the beast’s clutches only to be sucked into a churning whirlpool. Simulated volcanic vents belch heat. Steaming geysers erupt around us as we’re propelled to the ride’s end. So, what do you say? Shall we brave the rapids and face Q’aráq again? Or perhaps we should explore the rest of Adventure Isle?
