A night of glamour awaits inside. The Ritz Club stands ready to welcome you. This Lisbon landmark has a history as rich as the cocktails served within its walls.
Originally opened during Portugal’s Estado Novo period the Ritz Club quickly became Lisbon’s bohemian heart. Imagine a place where artists mingled with intellectuals, a space buzzing with creativity and freedom of expression. That was the Ritz Club. It offered two distinct spaces. Upstairs was a dance floor and stage. A balcony overlooked all the action. Downstairs it offered a more intimate setting.
After the revolution in 1974 the Ritz Club embraced diverse sounds and cultures. African music reggae and politically charged songs filled the air. Emerging pop and rock bands took to the stage. Theater found a home here too. Productions like “O Baile” adapted for Portugal, captivated audiences.
Sadly the Ritz Club closed in 2000 due to safety concerns. For twelve years its doors remained shut and its future uncertain. But in 2012 the Ritz Club was reborn. A meticulous renovation breathed new life into the space. Architect Maribel Sobreira and interior designer Marco Sousa Santos preserved its historic charm.
Today’s Ritz Club offers so much. Enjoy cocktails and snacks at the bars, enjoy live music and performances on stage or dine at the in-house restaurant. The Ritz Club has hosted many famous performers. Names like Xutos and Pontapés and Sérgio Godinho have graced the stage. It is once again a vibrant part of Lisbon’s nightlife. The Ritz Club continues to be a place where memories are made. It is a testament to Lisbon’s evolving cultural landscape.
Step inside the Ritz Club and experience Lisbon’s nightlife. You will walk through the doors of a place where history meets entertainment. Enjoy music, dance, and the spirit of Lisbon.
