Let’s step back to 1971. This was when Rigshospitalets Kollegium was built. It operates as an independent institution. It is also a department within Dansk Almennyttigt Boligselskab.
Before the Kollegium, Jagtvej 120 was home to a nurses’ building. This building housed nurses connected to Rigshospitalet. Constructed in 1929, it was torn down in 1969. This demolition paved the way for the Kollegium. Legend says tunnels once connected the Kollegium to Rigshospitalet. They are now closed. Stories tell of residents sneaking into the hospital late at night. They sought comfortable hospital beds for their rooms.
Each of the 414 rooms is about 16 square meters. Every resident enjoys a private bathroom with a bathtub. Though unfurnished, each room is a blank canvas. Residents personalize their spaces.
Kitchens are shared by 15 residents. These small kitchens are known for their cozy atmosphere. Each kitchen reflects the personalities of its inhabitants. From March 2012, the kitchens underwent renovation. Residents can rent the on-site bar and party room. This costs 250 kr. The bar includes a kitchen.
Rigshospitalets Kollegium boasts impressive facilities. There is a gym with modern equipment. Residents can relax in the sauna. A music room with a drum set and grand piano awaits musicians. A lounge area offers a space to unwind. The rooftop terrace provides stunning views of Copenhagen. It includes toilets and a kitchen. This makes it perfect for parties. Other amenities include a garden, copy machine, and parking. There is also a laundry room and workshop. Table football and a reading room add to the Kollegium’s appeal. In 1996, the ground floor underwent renovations. This added a bar and music room. It also raised the ceiling height. Six rooms on the first floor were lost. The high ceiling now features a giant disco ball.

Bus 6A provides direct access to Nørreport and the central station. The bus stop is across from the Kollegium. Fælledparken is just a short bike ride away.
