In 1942, Ridgemoor Country Club became the stage for a legendary golf moment. The Hale America National Open, a replacement for the wartime-canceled US Open, was held right here at Ridgemoor. Ridgemoor Country Club provided the backdrop for Ben Hogan’s remarkable victory. He shot an astounding 17 under par, including a course record of 62. This win cemented Ridgemoor’s place in golf history. Ridgemoor Country Club is more than just a golf course. It’s a private, member-owned club offering both golf and social memberships. The club boasts a challenging 18-hole, par 72 course. It also has multiple practice facilities and a pro shop. Beyond golf, Ridgemoor provides professional banquet and catering services. Dedicated culinary teams ensure members and guests enjoy top-notch dining experiences. Ridgemoor Country Club’s history traces back to the early 1900s. Originally known as Irving Golf Club, it started as a 40-acre course. The club relocated to its current location in 1905, expanding to a 70-acre course designed by Thomas O’Neil. By 1909, the club had grown to 18 holes and was renamed Ridgemoor. The club purchased the land in 1913, solidifying its presence. Over the years, renowned golf course architects have left their mark on Ridgemoor. From Langford and Moreau to Tillinghast and the Packards, each contributed to the course’s evolution. Today, Ridgemoor Country Club continues its legacy. It offers a blend of challenging golf and a welcoming social atmosphere.
