This support now runs from the abutments, through the remaining end piers, and rises to the bridge’s center. Likely around the same time, the original simple railings were replaced with the current concrete balustrade railings. Look below. Where those central piers once stood, railroad tracks now run in the roadway median. This transformation reflects the city’s ever-evolving needs. In 2021, the Richland Avenue Bridge underwent a significant railing replacement project. This project also included the installation of new street lighting. The work wrapped up ahead of schedule in November 2021, ensuring the bridge’s continued service to the community.
