A rhythmic pulse, almost tangible, hangs in the air here at the Rhythm of Light Sculpture. Isn’t it remarkable how art can capture the essence of something invisible? The Rhythm of Light, a set of two sculptures along Karpal Singh Drive, does just that. It embodies the very rhythm of life by the sea. These stylized musical notes, rising beside the water, were unveiled in 2008. Originally, this area was called Nautilus Bay. It later became IJM Promenade. After the passing of a prominent politician, it was renamed Karpal Singh Drive. The Rhythm of Light shares this space with another art installation called the Celebration of Our Blue Sky. Together, they transform the promenade into an open-air gallery. The artist, Heng Eow Lin, envisioned these musical notes as a symbolic representation of the beautiful rhythm of life. They stand as a testament to the enduring power of art to inspire and uplift. As you stand here, let the rhythmic forms of the sculpture resonate within you, a reminder of the constant pulse of life that surrounds us.
