Have you ever felt the weight of history pressing down? Here at the Resurrection Church of Beirut you can. This isn’t just any church. It’s a testament to faith resilience and the enduring spirit of a city that has known its share of turmoil.

The Resurrection Church of Beirut wasn’t born overnight. It began in 1964 a humble gathering of believers Daoud Tleel Fayez Sakhnini Ayoub Abu Na’eem and Raja Allaaty. They met in homes in Hadath a quiet area then far from the chaos to come. Pastor Khalil Ibrahim an Egyptian theology student guided them. He served until 1976 when the Lebanese civil war forced him to flee.

The war threatened to extinguish the flame of faith. But it didn’t. Pastor Ghassan Khalaf stepped up leading the church through years of conflict. He built it on strong biblical principles a foundation that would withstand the storm. Then in 2008 Pastor Hikmat Kashouh took the reins. His leadership saw exponential growth in size quality and impact.

The church didn’t just survive. It thrived. In 2011 amidst conflict and suffering it opened its doors to refugees offering a haven of hope and practical help. This holistic ministry attracted thousands of families by 2019. Baptisms and life transformations became commonplace.

The challenges continued. Covid-19 struck Lebanon faced economic collapse. Pastor Hikmat saw opportunity within these difficulties. He decentralized pastoral care empowering local leaders to nurture their communities. This strategic move led to 42 congregations reaching over 5000 families. The church’s message now extends far beyond Beirut’s borders impacting hundreds of thousands online.

Resurrection Church of Beirut is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to faith in the face of adversity. It’s a story of resilience hope and unwavering commitment to serving God and humanity. It’s a place where lives are transformed and the message of resurrection echoes through the years. It’s a church that embodies its name a beacon of hope in a world that often feels hopeless.
