How about a place that embodies community and history? That is the Résidence des Bois du Temple.
The Résidence des Bois du Temple in Clichy-sous-Bois is one of the large housing projects. These are known as HLM. Construction occurred between 1971 and 1973. The architects Jean Ginsberg and René Gagès designed it. René Gagès acted as the project architect. SOVAL commissioned the building. SOVAL stands for Société anonyme d’HLM du Val d’Oise. It still owns the complex today.
The building used the TECTON construction principle. Ginsberg developed this a few years earlier. Adaptations and variations were necessary.
The Résidence des Bois du Temple includes 711 social housing units. Originally there were 688. Some large apartments were divided into smaller units. The units are in seven buildings. Four are 17-story towers. These are the tallest structures in Clichy. Three are 13-story apartment blocks. It is the largest HLM complex in the town by number of dwellings.
Building number six is one of the four 17-story towers. It runs along the Allée de Gagny. The former RN 370 is now Allée de Gagny. Buildings two, five, and seven surround it.
The Résidence les Bois du Temple also holds the Ecojardin label. Batigère and its service provider ID Verde implement differentiated management. This includes formalizing green space maintenance in a calendar. The calendar includes mowing and cutting schedules. Many environmentally conscious management approaches are in use. Batigère and ID Verde have ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. Batigère is committed to a zero-phyto policy.
Manual weeding is the standard. Hoes or binettes are used only for new plantings. Mulch and ground cover plants limit spontaneous vegetation growth. They conserve soil moisture. Plants are grouped by water needs. This reduces water consumption. The managers tolerate yellowing of the herbaceous layer.
Biodiversity is integrated into the site through differentiated management. Plant species are not watered. They are adapted to the environment. Preventive weeding measures are in place. These include mulching. After use, tools are cleaned. The use of plant protection products is prohibited. Green waste is recycled on-site. Chipping and mulching are methods for recycling. If on-site use is not possible, the waste goes to composting platforms. Green waste consumption is tracked.
Equipment is shared with nearby sites. ID Verde is replacing thermal equipment with electric. Tools too old to use are sold on second-hand platforms. ID Verde has carried out a carbon assessment of its equipment.
The site rules are posted at building entrances. Batigère communicates with residents during redevelopment work. They use resident information letters and construction site panels. Meetings with tenants occur every two weeks during construction. Selective sorting is available on site. There are no cleanliness issues.
The Résidence des Bois du Temple stands as a testament to architectural vision. It also represents community and environmental consciousness. It is more than just a housing complex. It is a living, breathing part of Clichy-sous-Bois.
