A beacon of modern transit, Renjong LRT Station stands tall. It’s more than just a stop on the Sengkang LRT. Renjong station is a gateway to the heart of Sengkang, Singapore. Opened on January 29, 2005, Renjong Station, or SW8, quickly became a vital part of the community. The station’s name, “Renjong,” meaning “tall” or “to raise” in Malay, reflects its elevated structure and perhaps the aspirations of the community it serves. The name also links back to the area’s history, taking its name from the former Lorong Renjong. Imagine the bustling activity as commuters flow through this modern transit hub. Renjong Station serves the Sengkang West Loop. It connects residents to nearby HDB flats, schools like Nan Chiau High School, and even the Sengkang Train Depot, a hidden world of engineering and logistics. The station itself is a marvel of modern design. Three levels rise above the street. Level 3 houses the platforms for the West Loop’s inner and outer routes. Level 2 is the concourse, a hub of activity with faregates, ticketing machines, and even a retail shop. An overhead bridge stretches from the concourse across Sengkang East Avenue, connecting the station to both sides of the street. Passengers can descend to street level on Level 1, where bus stops offer further connections to the wider network. Renjong Station is more than a station.
