What if I told you this church embarked on a journey that led them to change their name and location? This unassuming building is the Reformed Church of Palos Heights. It holds a fascinating story within its walls. Established in 1959 by 24 determined families, the Reformed Church of Palos Heights quickly grew into a cornerstone of the community. Initially, they worshipped in a vacant clubhouse until they could build their own space. However, their story took an interesting turn as they grew. They changed their name to Christ Community Church and moved to Lemont, IL in 1998. This relocation, fueled by their commitment to reaching a wider community, involved selling their property, constructing a new facility, and navigating an economic downturn. They persevered and opened their new location on Easter Sunday in 2007. Their journey didn’t stop there. The global pandemic in 2020 prompted them to find new ways to connect and serve. They hosted garage church gatherings, met in small groups online, and delivered care packages to those in need. Through these challenges, the Reformed Church of Palos Heights, now Christ Community Church, continues to adapt and serve their community, demonstrating that their commitment extends beyond the walls of any building. Their story is a testament to their enduring faith and dedication.
